We started early from Cartagena taking a flight via Bogota to Cuzco (spoiler no direct flights) with Avianca. The scenery as we approached to land was amazing. The airport is literally within the city.
Our little place to stay, El Balcón had small but nice rooms with hot shower.
Then we walked around the city and although the buildings are the colonial replacement of the previous grandeur of the capital of Inca they are simply awesome. We realised (as we probably knew) that we were not going to do the city any justice.
The main plaza was just beyond imagination and these pictures don't do it justice. The walk on the streets towards the Prado market was like being part of a history written by one of the biggest civilizations living on our little planet rewritten by the conquerors and lived today
An evening meal in Mistura, one of the recommended restaurants close to the square just confirmed the travellers rule 'Do not eat near the central square'. Not bad but underwhelming. At least tried Guinea pig...
